Our story, our people, our promise.
Registered in 2013 (TR/INC 5938) and based in Nayuchi, Machinga District, YRSC is recognised by the National Youth Council of Malawi, CONGOMA, and the NGO Regulatory Authority.
Born from a drama troupe in 2010.
YRSC originated as a drama group addressing the critical issues of HIV/AIDS and sexual violence against children, including rape and defilement. It was founded by a group of like-minded young people deeply concerned about the prevalence of sexual violence and its impact on children and society.
Recognising the challenges posed by unprotected sex, cultural norms, and harmful practices, the group set out to advocate against sexual and gender-based violence at community level, at a time when many vulnerable people, especially girls and women, could not identify violence, let alone report it. The founders believed drama could shift behaviour by conveying serious messages through edutainment.

We believe that if duty-bearers become more responsive to youth needs in sexual and reproductive health and rights, education, and ending gender-based violence, young people will be empowered to contribute positively to the development agenda at community, district, and national levels.

Primary beneficiaries
We primarily serve young people especially adolescent girls and young women, including teen mothers alongside adolescent boys and young men. We reach youth both in school and out of school.
Stakeholders & partners
District level: District Health Management Team, District Education Office, Council Secretariat, donors, and civil society through the District Civil Society Network.
Community level: traditional and religious leaders, Area & Village Development Committees, Village Health Committees, Community Victim Support Committees, Police Victim Support Units, School Management Committees, Mother Groups, and Parent-Teacher Associations.

Community Volunteers
Over fifty volunteers, young men and adolescent girls and young women (AGYWs) from diverse backgrounds, delivering programmes through our Youth Hubs.
